The SLC airport is not my friend!

In case anyone wants to know I hate the snow!!

I was so excited to go to Santa Barbara today! Planned to go to Judy’s and leave me car there and Aunt Judy would take me to the airport. Well I got up this morning to a snow covered parking lot and snow covered roads. But that didn’t stop me! I carried my stuff down 3 flights of stairs my suit case was only 45lbs (Dad aren’t you proud it’s light this year!) and dragged it all through the snow. Then I was off to Judy’s. It took me 40 min to get there and it is usually about 20. When I got to Judy’s she was so cute outside in her little beanie clearing her driveway! The snow was horrible!! It took us a little over an hour to get to the airport; most of it was spent trying to get through I-15. I was starting to get worried that I would not make my flight. I called a few times in the car and my flight was on time. Luckily we made it! When I got to the airport my flight was DELAYED!!!!! My flight was supposed to leave at 11:20 am it is now almost 1pm and I am hoping that I get to leave within the next hour.
I have done all I can think of to entertain myself while sitting her for 3 hours. I have people watched, and that was great when the UCSB basketball team was sitting across from me :) and played online. Searched for jobs, and talked to people on facebook, and talked on the phone! (Thank you creators of facebook!)
So thank you to all to have entertained me today, and Sally’s Mom for being so excited to answer the phone when I called Sally! It made my day! :)

Cross your fingers that my flight gets here soon!! And GOOD LUCK to all who are flying this weekend!!

The Good, The Bad... The Rat OR The Bird!!

So in the past 24 hours allot has changed for me. I will not be graduating now until April instead of in... 4 days, I applied for a job I am excited about, had a rat mouse and bird living in my apartment.

So here is the story...

Graduation. As many of you know my law class was that hardest and most ridiculous class ever! Our grade is based 90% on 2 test and 10% on "participation". The average for the 1st test was a 50% and average for the 2nd was I think a 60%. He was "nice" (and I use that term loosely) and said he would drop one test but our final was comprehensive. I am not a good test taker so this class was not good for me. Well long story short, I didn’t do so hot. And I am not going to pass... BUT the graduation requirements have changed for spring 09 class (that is what I will be now) and I do not need to take that class again! I just have to take any upper division class and it can be anything that I want! I will also be saving my parents money by going to school next semester opposed to the cost of have to live without having a job. (Sounds funny, but trust me... it makes sense) So next semester I will be taking 1 class and maybe yoga, maybe some dance classes... just a fun nice semester!

Job
I applied for a job helping to be the event coordinator on campus for on campus events. I would be working with student government and helping the activities person so coordinate. So if I understand the job description right it seems to be a really fun job! Cross your fingers! :)

The Mouse the Rat and the Bird
I came home from school on Thursday and heard allot of racket in the hot water heater closet and what sounded like little feet, so the girl that I am I ran down the hall to my room to try to get away from it ( like that was going to make a difference). I then heard it running in the vent! It was really loud and sounded big so I deiced it was a rat. After talking to my family the convinced me it was probably a mouse. I called my management and that were supposed to take care of it. I then left my apartment for the day because I was creped out. I got home late that night and told my roommate what happened and to see if she had heard the mouse. She said that she had not. I told her if she did to let me know and I would call management (she doesn’t speak much English so I told her I would take care of it :) ) About 10 this morning I heard a knock on my bedroom door, it was my roommate who looked like she was going to cry! She heard the mouse in her bathroom behind the washer and dryer. I called management again, and then came over shortly after. After some investigation work, there was NO rat NO mouse.... but a BIRD stuck in the wall!!!!!! We don’t know how it got there, but it was there. I left for a few hours to run errands, but when I came back the bird was gone. I don’t know how they got it out, or how it got in there, but apparently this happens often in this complex. I do know that they did not hurt the bird and the bird my roommate and I named George is safely flying into someone else apartment now!

This is the Good, the Bad, and Bird, story of my life this week!

New Post...Because Becky told me too!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Holiday season so far! I had a great thanksgiving here with the cousins. This past 2 weeks Aunt Joyce has been here and I went out almost every day with the cousins. It has been so much fun! I love it!

So, Monday night I took Kaitlyn to the UVU ballroom concert with me. I wanted to go and see all my old team members and support them, but I didn’t want to go alone. I thought this would be some good cousin bonding time. We had a blast! We went to Cafe Rio before the concert and then stood in line waiting for the doors to open and she got to meet a bunch of my friends. It was great to see everyone and the show was great! They had a lot of new numbers and it was really fun to watch! I hope she had as much fun as I did!!

I will be done with my finals on Tuesday! YAY!! I am almost done with my capstone project I have to pick up some pictures from Costco tomorrow and then get a few things bound and I am done with my Internship and Capstone!! :)

I have started studying for my Law final which is the death of me!! Please pray for me!! It is the hardest test I have ever taken!

I am no longer working at the 23rd floor. :( It is sad and I miss the girls that I work with but I am planning on seeing them soon, so it is alright. I did my big event and it was tons of fun! I was up on a ladder hanging like 1000 Chinese lanterns for about 4 hours. But it all looked great. The pictures don’t do it justice! I will get the pics up soon. I just need to load them on my computer.

I leave on the 18th to go and spend 10 days in Santa Barbara with my wonderful Sister and Brother-in-law! And of course little Chino! I can't wait!!

Sorry it took forever to post, but that is what is going on in my life! I will let you all know how finals go!! Please pray for me and my law final!! :) Hehe!

Love you all
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Mini Update!

So here is the mini update! Sorry it has been a while.

*I am still looking for a job, I have my resume posted everywhere I can think of and I have been checking every site I Can. It has not been easy, but I am still looking.
* I decided that I am going to stay in the dreadful snow of Utah for a little while longer and in a few months see how things are going and see if I want to stay here.
*I stayed in Utah for Thanksgiving. I was sad not being home with my parents and have the Thanksgiving I am use to, but Aunt Joyce and Uncle Craig were out here so it was fun to be with all the Cousins. Kristen and Matthew and their 2 kids flew out too! The whole Jarrard clan was there. It was tons of fun!
* Aunt Joyce will be here for another week so I will get some more family time while she is here.
* The event that I have been working on for the past month or so with Megan (she has been showing me the ropes on coordinating) is this Friday. I will be working probably 12 hours that day! But I am excited to finish my senior project! :)
* I had the ward holiday party last week that I was helping out with, and it went great! Thanks to Janelle! She helped me with some of the centerpieces! :) Gotta love having cousins so close!
*I have 16 more days of school left! My law class is really tough so PLEASE pray that I will pass!! I know I am!! :)
*I developed tendinitis in my right wrist, I have been wearing a brace for about 2 weeks and it has gotten a smidgen better!
*BEST OF ALL... 100.3 Radio station plays Christmas music 24-Hours a day!!!! :)

I think that is about it! I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving and I can’t wait for Christmas!!

The Job hunt...

I talked to my boss the other day to see what she had in store for my future at the 23rd Floor. It took me about 2 weeks to get the guts to talk to her and then another 2 weeks to track her down. We have another office up in Logan so she is there allot. I finally went in to talk to her and she sadly informed me that they will not have a full time position for me there and that I would not be getting much more hours then I am now. She told me that I have been doing a great job there and I in return told her how much I love working there and that I have never loved a job more in my life, but I will have find somewhere that can take me full time. I told the girls that I work with and they were sad but we all kind of knew that I wouldn't be hired full time. I am going to continue to work there until I find another job and maybe work there part time after that as well. I am sad to have to leave but that is life... it is time to be a grown up and work full time :(

So I am on the hunt for a job. If any one wants to help me find a job that would be great!!! :)

I don't know if I am going to stay in SLC or where I am going to go, So we will see where the Lord wants me right now and I will be off to start a career and new part of my life there.

The way to make friends...

The new apartment complex that I live in doesn't have allot of extra parking. I have an assigned covered parking spot that i am so thankful for right now since it has begun to snow. Well, I worked tonight and got home a little after 9:30 and there was someone in my parking spot. So, I called the towing company and the came to get the car. The tow truck had just attached to the car when the guy came out. I got a few dirty looks from the owner of the car after he paid the tow truck driver and he then got in his car to move. He backed out and then moved over 2 parking spots!!!! Do I know how to make friends with my neighbors or what!!

Clumsy is graceful , right?

Halloween this year was quite the night. I went to LDS party with the girls from work.
I met up with Colleen and we met Paige and Megan at the dance. We were quite the little group.
Megan was Curela Deville and her Hubby Josh was a Dalmatian... it was great!
Colleen was a prego white-trash looking hick! It was awesome!! She actually looked pregnant.
Paige was the cutest little flapper!
Me... I was part of the Russian mafia. (Don’t ask me why Russian... but that is what I was)

The dance that we went to was up the canyon in Salt Lake. So, if anyone hasn't been up the canyon at night... there is no light up there. Once we got the place where the party was it was raining and the LONG walk we had was gravel, and dark. /I just about rolled my ankle like 4 times. But I survived and safely made it inside. The dance wasn't all the great, but hanging out with the girls outside of work was a blast!

At about 10:30 I left the party to go meet up with a guy friend that I had met at one of the parties I had worked on the 23rd Floor about a month ago. As I was leaving I had to walk that dark uneven road by myself in 4" heels. Uneven ground and heels are not so good. As I almost fell a few times, I did successfully make it to my car without falling. I thought since I made it through that I was safe for the night.

I met up with my friend and one of his friend's parties and we hung out there for a while. Well, long story short we at one point were walking down an incredibly steep hill, uneven ground in the dark (again), I didn't have my glasses on ( ya I know I’m bright right?) and what happens... I FALL!! Completely bail! The first time I hang out with this cute guy and I fall! I was so embarrassed, but I shook it off and pretended like I was fine. I have never had a guy feel so bad for me falling; surprisingly he didn’t even make fun of me. I would have made fun of me! It was great.

That did set the tone for my week though. So I fall on Friday, I ran into a table at work on Saturday, and Monday I cut myself on a piece of glass while moving a box. I just hope my week gets better from here. At this rate I may have stitches by the end of the week. I thought dancers were supposed to be graceful!!

Disneyland to my CRAZY Halloween Party

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. Here is the update on what I have been up to. I went on a trip to Disneyland with my Aunt Terri, Uncle Tom, Aunt Lisa my little cousins Jack and Abby and Becky and Lance. It was so much fun! We went to celebrate Terri, Abby and my birthday. We went and had breakfast with the Princesses. Abby loved it, and Jack has a crush on Princess Jasmine! Becky tried to get him to ask for her phone number.
While we were there Becky was in a wheelchair so we got to go in all the wheelchair lines it was great! We went a bunch of rides and it was great to see the kids having so much fun. We made sure that we went to the Buzz light-year cafe where they do a Jedi training show so Jack could learn to fight like a Jedi. He was picked and he found Darthmal (I think) but it was definitely a highlight of his trip.
It was great to get away from the stress of school and work and see the family for a little while. I Flew out Saturday morning and got into Salt Lake at 3 and then went right to work. It is now getting to my busy season so I feel like I live at my office now.

Since I know you all love to hear about my crazy events... I have a great one!!

Last Saturday night I worked 2 parties. In one room I had a quincenaira. Which if you don’t know what that is; it is a huge party for a 15 birthday. They were there from 3pm-12:30am! They had 2 live bands and a DJ. They speakers they had were bigger than me and had their own breaker box!! I am surprised that I am not deaf after that night!! Also, there were only about 3 people there that spoke English and everyone else spoke Spanish.
Then in the other 2 rooms we had a "Halloween dance party" done by a few online websites and sponsored by the blue boutique. For those of you who are not from Utah, the blue boutique is an "adult store" to say the least. When I found out about this party I was thinking that it was going to be a bunch of 20's to maybe early 30's people. Boy was I wrong!!! Everyone that was there was there was probably 30-mid to late 40's. The last thing I wanted to see was a 45 year old fat man in just SHORT SHORT swim trunk!! But don't worry I saw it! I also saw very large women in hardly anything. Needless to say I was sick most of the night.
The most interesting thing all night was trying to keep both parties separated, when they had to share a bathroom. It was quite the night. there were a bunch of little boys ( about 12 years old) standing in the hall of the bathroom just "hanging out" but really watching everyone in their costumes going in and out of the bathroom. I was constantly pushing them back into their own party.

It was a pretty entertaining night, just one more event to add to the resume!!

Happy Birthday to me!

So i am finally the big 22! or two quack quack, or something like that as my Dad says.

Any who... I had a great birthday! Nothing too exciting but it was fun! I went to school, then out to lunch with my old roommates. It was great to see them and spend some time with them. They really are some of the greatest friends. Later that night I went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory with some Friends and it was great! I loved it all. it was so nice to see all my friends and for them to have a reason to get together.

Then tonight I went to dinner with "the girls" while the boys were at Mal's watching the game, it was so fun. I really appreciate how much they care. After dinner we went to Mallory's for cake! Mal slaved away in the kitchen for HOURS to make me a cake!! :) Ok, so she got it from this amazing bakery... same thing! It was so much fun just to hang out with the girls at Mal and Casey's! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! It is great how no matter what is going on in our lives we are still there for each other and we can always have a good time. It was great to see friends I haven't seen in a while. This is why I love my birthday!! It is the best reason to see and talk to friends you haven't talked to for a while! So thank you all for a great birthday!

Although my birthday is no over yet, I still have DISNEYLAND in 2 weeks!!

boring week!

So, my life hasn't been all that exciting the past week. I have gone to school, gone to work, and slept allot. I did work a Sigma Chi frat party on Saturday, that was exciting and a little stressful! the guys that were throwing it were really nice and helpful, but it was a long night!!

I also dyed my hair! I told Ashlyn ( my old roommate/ hairdresser) that i wanted a change and boy did I get was asking for! It is defiantly a change!! I am a Burnett again! I have gotten a lot of compliments on it though. Everyone seems to like it, and the color is growing on me allot.

The only other thing going on is my birthday is on Thursday! I am going out with some friends to dinner and then out with some other friends on Friday. but that is it!! If anything else exciting happens I will be sure to post it! :)

Where I work!

The Wasatch! Fun huh!

This is "the table picture" this is the one that is in all kinds of magazines! The stairs in the Atrium

The Atrium for some fun party!

To the bestest Sister in the world!

So, I would like everyone to know that I have the best sister any one could ask for. We did always fight like sister. She would lock me out of the house, I would try to lock her out, but she was smart enough to go around the back door (ya, I wasn't). She told me I was adopted from outer space, tells my mom to put a bag over my head when I cut my own hair at age 5. Who wouldn't love a sister like that!!

But, as we grew up she protected me and took care of me more than I knew then. She was always there for me when I needed her. She was the one I called when I got my first ticket and she coached me through how to tell mom and dad. She was the one that drove down all the way from Idaho, to go to my dance concert, so I would have someone there. She has always been the one to bail me or back me up when I needed her. And, she still is there for me whenever I need her. When I over draw my account and am too afraid to call dad, or when Mom and Dad are in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and my tuition needs to be paid. She solves when she can and helps me to solve the rest. She is one of the biggest strengths to me. She is just what Sister is for! I don't tell her enough but I love her, and I don't know what I would do without her! She really is my best friend, and I can’t wait to see her in 2 weeks!

p.s. She is pretty too!

American Idol and my crazy week!

So, I can finally talk a little bit about this big event that we had at work that I couldn't talk about. So here it is... American Idol did their final round before Hollywood with us!

After the huge cattle call they did at the E-Center, they came back about a month later; they did an Executive Producer round, all before the contestants could meet the judges. After the EP round they did their final judging with us!! They then came on Tuesday afternoon, to unload all their equipment. That took a few hours! In the mean time I was working an event with the EN auction and my friend Chad. I also had my caterers setting up in the Wasatch for an early morning breakfast for the US Postal Service. My event with EN auction was over and all cleaned up, but 2 women had shown up and were “supposed to meet with the American Idol producers" about what they were supposed to be doing that night. an hour after my event was over My caterers were still setting up and had about 2 more hours of set up to do, and my A.I mystery girls were still waiting. I was told at one point that someone would be coming to stay the night to watch all the equipment, but these women were not told that is what they would be doing because no producers ever showed up. Megan the event coordinator I was working with that night who had left earlier that evening told me that I could leave before the caterers were done. The hardest thing I have ever done since I have worked there, was that night. I left the caterers still working and left two random people in my events center!! I am always the last one to leave; it was very hard to do that!

Well I got to work at 130 on Thursday and that was when the fun and craziness started! I can’t even begin to describe what it was like to be there! There were contestants running everywhere American Idol workers everywhere! It was Very over whelming! All the Producers and those who are employed with American Idol are incredibly nice! I was very surprised at how nice they all were to the 23rd floor employees. Colleen had to leave early in the day because she had to go to class, so it was just Megan Paige Lisa (my boss) and me! So when all was said and done, Lisa was determined that we would get an employee picture! So as we ventured into the audition room, where the judges were ran into Ryan! So Lisa not being the smiley cheesy girl put on a sweet face and asked him for an employee picture! Ryan was really nice and jumped right in! Right before we took the picture Randy and Simon walked out and jumped in our picture too!! By the way, I look like a giant next to Ryan and a midget next to Randy! :) We then went into the judging room and got a picture with the 4th judge, after that the guy who took the picture for us had us all sit behind the judging table and took out picture! It was a very fun day!

That is my very long but nut shell version of what happened with American Idol! It was very exciting for our company too! I guess Simon loved our place and our view, so maybe they will come back next year!!!! We can hope right? :)

I'm A Big Kid Now!

In order to graduate I have to complete a senior capstone project. The idea behind the Senior project, is to prepare the students for their future careers. Since I am working as an event hostess and I would like to be an even coordinator I decided it would be a good idea to plan an event. I talked with Megan one of the girls that I work with and she agreed. Megan has kind of been my mentor through my time working with 23rd Floor Events Center. She was the one that I talked to at Kristen and Cam’s wedding that eventually got me that job there. She is the one that has trained me on everything I know at work. She has been a huge blessing to me.

I haven’t seen my boss in about 4 or 5 weeks, so I decided to send her an email. I told her that I needed to do a Senior project and I thought that it would be a good idea if I planned an event with the help of one of the girls (one of the coordinators). She emailed me back and told me that I had been doing a great job at the company and that she thought that was a great idea! She told me that she wanted me to plan 2 events and work with 2 different coordinators because they each do things a little differently and that way I can pick up and make my own style from there.
I am so excited!! I finally get to start planning events!

I am on my way to becoming an official Event Coordinator!
