boring week!

So, my life hasn't been all that exciting the past week. I have gone to school, gone to work, and slept allot. I did work a Sigma Chi frat party on Saturday, that was exciting and a little stressful! the guys that were throwing it were really nice and helpful, but it was a long night!!

I also dyed my hair! I told Ashlyn ( my old roommate/ hairdresser) that i wanted a change and boy did I get was asking for! It is defiantly a change!! I am a Burnett again! I have gotten a lot of compliments on it though. Everyone seems to like it, and the color is growing on me allot.

The only other thing going on is my birthday is on Thursday! I am going out with some friends to dinner and then out with some other friends on Friday. but that is it!! If anything else exciting happens I will be sure to post it! :)

To the bestest Sister in the world!

So, I would like everyone to know that I have the best sister any one could ask for. We did always fight like sister. She would lock me out of the house, I would try to lock her out, but she was smart enough to go around the back door (ya, I wasn't). She told me I was adopted from outer space, tells my mom to put a bag over my head when I cut my own hair at age 5. Who wouldn't love a sister like that!!

But, as we grew up she protected me and took care of me more than I knew then. She was always there for me when I needed her. She was the one I called when I got my first ticket and she coached me through how to tell mom and dad. She was the one that drove down all the way from Idaho, to go to my dance concert, so I would have someone there. She has always been the one to bail me or back me up when I needed her. And, she still is there for me whenever I need her. When I over draw my account and am too afraid to call dad, or when Mom and Dad are in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and my tuition needs to be paid. She solves when she can and helps me to solve the rest. She is one of the biggest strengths to me. She is just what Sister is for! I don't tell her enough but I love her, and I don't know what I would do without her! She really is my best friend, and I can’t wait to see her in 2 weeks!

p.s. She is pretty too!

American Idol and my crazy week!

So, I can finally talk a little bit about this big event that we had at work that I couldn't talk about. So here it is... American Idol did their final round before Hollywood with us!

After the huge cattle call they did at the E-Center, they came back about a month later; they did an Executive Producer round, all before the contestants could meet the judges. After the EP round they did their final judging with us!! They then came on Tuesday afternoon, to unload all their equipment. That took a few hours! In the mean time I was working an event with the EN auction and my friend Chad. I also had my caterers setting up in the Wasatch for an early morning breakfast for the US Postal Service. My event with EN auction was over and all cleaned up, but 2 women had shown up and were “supposed to meet with the American Idol producers" about what they were supposed to be doing that night. an hour after my event was over My caterers were still setting up and had about 2 more hours of set up to do, and my A.I mystery girls were still waiting. I was told at one point that someone would be coming to stay the night to watch all the equipment, but these women were not told that is what they would be doing because no producers ever showed up. Megan the event coordinator I was working with that night who had left earlier that evening told me that I could leave before the caterers were done. The hardest thing I have ever done since I have worked there, was that night. I left the caterers still working and left two random people in my events center!! I am always the last one to leave; it was very hard to do that!

Well I got to work at 130 on Thursday and that was when the fun and craziness started! I can’t even begin to describe what it was like to be there! There were contestants running everywhere American Idol workers everywhere! It was Very over whelming! All the Producers and those who are employed with American Idol are incredibly nice! I was very surprised at how nice they all were to the 23rd floor employees. Colleen had to leave early in the day because she had to go to class, so it was just Megan Paige Lisa (my boss) and me! So when all was said and done, Lisa was determined that we would get an employee picture! So as we ventured into the audition room, where the judges were ran into Ryan! So Lisa not being the smiley cheesy girl put on a sweet face and asked him for an employee picture! Ryan was really nice and jumped right in! Right before we took the picture Randy and Simon walked out and jumped in our picture too!! By the way, I look like a giant next to Ryan and a midget next to Randy! :) We then went into the judging room and got a picture with the 4th judge, after that the guy who took the picture for us had us all sit behind the judging table and took out picture! It was a very fun day!

That is my very long but nut shell version of what happened with American Idol! It was very exciting for our company too! I guess Simon loved our place and our view, so maybe they will come back next year!!!! We can hope right? :)

I'm A Big Kid Now!

In order to graduate I have to complete a senior capstone project. The idea behind the Senior project, is to prepare the students for their future careers. Since I am working as an event hostess and I would like to be an even coordinator I decided it would be a good idea to plan an event. I talked with Megan one of the girls that I work with and she agreed. Megan has kind of been my mentor through my time working with 23rd Floor Events Center. She was the one that I talked to at Kristen and Cam’s wedding that eventually got me that job there. She is the one that has trained me on everything I know at work. She has been a huge blessing to me.

I haven’t seen my boss in about 4 or 5 weeks, so I decided to send her an email. I told her that I needed to do a Senior project and I thought that it would be a good idea if I planned an event with the help of one of the girls (one of the coordinators). She emailed me back and told me that I had been doing a great job at the company and that she thought that was a great idea! She told me that she wanted me to plan 2 events and work with 2 different coordinators because they each do things a little differently and that way I can pick up and make my own style from there.
I am so excited!! I finally get to start planning events!

I am on my way to becoming an official Event Coordinator!
